We are Waved

 

Pioneers in building a complementary education model that transforms lives in Panama’s rural and coastal communities. By combining academic learning with physical education, we inspire dreams, empower young people, and open doors to a future full of opportunities.

 

Bastian Barnbeck, a German national and founder of Waved, was deeply shaped by a values-driven family environment and diverse international experiences from a young age. While living in Brazil, he discovered surfing as a powerful tool to foster educational opportunities, inspiring him to establish Waved in 2016. What began as an educational startup has since grown into a recognized organization in Panama, with the support of a partner organization based in Hamburg, Germany, since January 2024.


After eight years of dedicated work, Waved inaugurated its first sustainable school, Zona Waved, in early 2024 on Isla Cañas, a small island on Panama’s Pacific coast. Waved seeks students who are committed to strong values, lifelong learning, and social responsibility.
