WAVED`S IDEA TO TURN WAVES INTO EDUCATION WAS
BORN IN SÃO LOURENÇO, ON THE COAST OF THE
STATE OF SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL.
Back then in 2016 when Waved's Founder, Bastian Barnbeck, had just experienced his first wave, he felt there was more to surfing than solely the joy of catching a wave. By helping younger students with their homework assignments from the age of 15, and since then continously being involved with other social services always focusing on academic education, it seemed natural to combine both, surfing and education.
Idea: Let's assume that every surfed wave can be turned into funds for education!
The missing link was the concept to allow anyone worldwide to be able to support education, through simply catching waves, physically or symbolically. Waved and its unique fundraising model 'One dollar per wave for local schools' was born.
